Tulsa Museum Tours in ASL

Tulsa Museum Tours in American Sign Language (ASL) 2023

At the end of August in 2023 was the first of the free monthly public programs, Tulsa Museum Tours in American Sign Language (ASL). Each tour was led by a Deaf educator–Alex Gauger, Bota Bean, Jasmine Williams, Meghan Preseley, and Logan Evans–who have all received intensive training in museum education through ASL.

The events were all aimed for the signing community–Deaf, Hard of Hearing, as well as ASL fluent friends and family–and were located at Gilcrease Museum, 108 Contemporary, Philbrook Museum of Art, and Woody Guthrie Center. Training was also provided for participating staff on an introduction to ASL access.

All tours were well attended with a positive impact at both a community and institutional level.
